The music and entertainment at your wedding reception, event or celebration in Central Florida can make or break your party!  When planning a special occasion it may be difficult trying to choose between an interactive DJ and a live band.  Hopefully these pros and cons will help you make an informed decision.

Event Space

Keep in mind a live band takes up a lot of space, some bands have over 8 members plus all the equipment.  Depending on your venue, this may leave little room for dancing and mingling.  An interactive DJ takes up much less space, even with their equipment.

Diversity of Music

If you’re looking for a wide variety of songs and genres, then a DJ is definitely your best option.  A DJ plays music from the original artists on a high quality sound system.  A band is limited to the songs they play and usually just one genre.

The Atmosphere and Music are Controlled by the DJ

If there seems to be a lull in the evening the DJ can liven it up with upbeat music that will get everyone on the dance floor, on the other hand, if things are getting out of hand, the DJ can calm things down with music.

“A DJ who specializes in the type of music you want played at your wedding (country, hip-hop, funk—whatever your taste!) can create a wonderful, festive atmosphere. At the same time, a good DJ can play a wide variety of music, cater to many tastes and easily acquire your favorite songs if they’re not already in his or her collection—unlike a band, which has a set repertoire. A DJ will play recorded songs (so you’ll know them well and your guests might sing along!),” Wedding Wire.

Budget

Generally a DJ is much less expensive than a band.  With a band you have to pay each member.  Bands will also need to take more breaks than a DJ, which means there will be more lulls in the evening.  An interactive DJ energizes the atmosphere and gets everyone involved.  They make announcements and have wireless microphones for the host and guests to use.

Choosing a DJ will defiantly give you more bang for your buck!
