Everyone has Different Taste and Preferences
Before we perform at any event, we always make time to meet with the host and hostess before the big day, to go over the type of music they want to hear. It’s very rare that a bride and groom have the same taste in music, usually the groom wants to hear dance and rock, wheel the bride wants to hear R&B, pop and the latest romantic songs. I try and make everyone happy at the event and play exactly what they want to hear.
Creating the Perfect Atmosphere
What gets everyone up, dancing and having a great time? The Atmosphere! A couple of weeks ago I was the DJ at a young couples wedding. At 11:30 pm both the grandparents were on the dance floor, with their hands in the air and jumping up and down to Faithless Insomnia! I’m sure this is not something they listen to at home, but they and everyone else got caught up in the energizing atmosphere and had the time of their life!
Knowledge of Music
The guests at your event will have many different musical tastes. It’s important the DJ not only has the knowledge of different genres but also the music collection to go along with it. An experienced DJ will know when it’s time to change the genre. For instance, if the dance floor is packed and the third Motown song is playing, knowing that if you play a fourth many people will leave the dance floor.
